Cause for Change

Dear Everyone!

Hope all is well with you. I am writing to let you know what is happening to the Garfield High School Auditorium. Nothing.

Please encourage Mr. Mark Naulls, Assistant Principal in charge of the Garfield High School plant to put more pressure on the Insurance company who is not willing to restore/pay for the auditorium. I received an email from my former HS Theatre teacher, who has retired. She mentioned that the situation was in need of immediate attention.

He said the insurance company is “delaying” the auditorium construction for what seems an indefinite time. They don’t want to put out the money. I think because the longer they hold on to it the more interest they get. He thought the district should go ahead and build and then sue the insurance company. He said the district had the money and the insurance company is responsible for the restoration of the building.

The community immediately after the fire was mobilized and determined that the auditorium be restored.

Now TWO AND A HALF YEARS LATER, the shell stands with NO date for reconstruction set. Garfield High School needs your help to restore this community treasure!

Is there something YOU are able to do, someone you know, anyone that would be able to affect a change in the Insurance company’s attitude and actions or those of the district? Please contact any Alumni, the La Opinion, School Board Member Yolie Flores Aguilar, Los Lobos, or any one who can spread the word more quickly to give this situation the needed press coverage and attention.

Please contact those people and let me know who to contact.

Thank you so very much!
