I recently puchased my first Apple product, the iPhone.
I did not always like the idea of owning an iPhone on the basis that I didn’t need a cell phone that could do that many things at once. Apparently, I was wrong. Now, let me state that I was already quite satisfied with the last phone I had. It was a Samsung BlackJack II, which was great for me for about two years, about as long as my contract lasted. The real issue with that device was paying for features it couldn’t do. It was an error that existed on my device, not the model, service provider, or plan. It couldn’t download or view MMS. This wasn’t a big pronblem for a while, but toward the end became frustrating when people send you these types of texts more often. I tried to replace it, but was told there was no way to backup my information from the phone (i.e. calendar or photos, etc.). Annoying, frustrating, and nothing I could do.
So, I patiently waited until I could get a new phone. Time slowly passed, then I found out I needed a new iPod. My first & only iPod was pretty old. It ws the last model made without a color screen. It seems ancient now, in an age where new iPods are released almost every year.
Then the decision was made that seemed to make sense. I needed a new cell phone with MMS, and Internet, and a calendar, and a new iPod, and so I sat eating my own own words. Once I had made the leap and mentally there was no stopping me.
The sad part was I had to wait almost another year before it could happen. Even worse, my boyfriend got one first. This happened with the last cell phones we purchased. He got the first edition, then I got the second with all the improvements. So goes the story. This also meant I got to play with his iPhone before I had to purchase my own. I even downloaded apps for his iPhone that only I used. It was crazy.
In the short time I’ve had my iPhone I’m sad to report I don’t use it as constantly as I thought I should.
Maybe it’s better this way.
Then again, I am writing and posting this entry via the new device. Evil comes in many forms, and they’re all awesome.
